At the heart of Christian counseling is a calling that is both sacred and weighty. It’s the privilege of walking with individuals and families through brokenness toward healing in Christ. It is work that requires wisdom, discernment, and, often, trusted partnerships.

We are honored to introduce S2L Recovery as a new partner with the National Christian Counselors Association (NCCA), united by a shared commitment: to see lives transformed through the power of Jesus Christ.

S2L Recovery exists to help men and women break free from addiction and life-controlling issues by addressing not only behaviors, but the deeper heart-level struggles that drive them. Our approach is unapologetically Christ-centered, rooted in biblical truth, and designed to foster lasting transformation beyond sobriety alone. People fly in from all over the country to get Christ-centered care we offer at S2L Recovery.

A Christ-Centered Approach to Recovery

Addiction is rarely just about substances or behaviors. It is often intertwined with identity, wounds, beliefs, and misplaced worship. At S2L, we guide individuals beyond surface-level change into a restored relationship with Christ, where true freedom is found.

For over 20 years, S2L Recovery has been serving individuals and families with a commitment to both biblical fidelity and clinical excellence.

Our program integrates:

  • Biblical teaching and discipleship

  • Clinical insight and structured recovery processes

  • Full-time medical and pastoral staff providing comprehensive, whole-person care

  • Personal mentoring and community living

  • Family restoration and relational healing

  • Joint Commission Accreditation ensuring excellence and accountability in care

We believe lasting recovery happens when individuals not only understand truth but are transformed by it.

Why This Partnership Matters

As a Christian counselor, you are often on the front lines helping individuals recognize the need for deeper intervention, especially when addiction has taken root. One of the greatest challenges can be identifying a trusted, biblically grounded program to confidently refer them to. This partnership between NCCA and S2L Recovery is designed to meet that need with clarity, alignment, and collaboration.

Through this partnership, S2L Recovery is equipping counselors with additional tools, including a dedicated training module on Recognizing and Referring Addiction Cases, helping you discern when a higher level of care is necessary and how to take that next step with confidence.

A Seamless and Supportive Referral Process

We understand that referring a client is not simply a decision but a continuation of care. That is why we have built intentional systems to support both you and those you serve:

  • Expedited intake process with a dedicated specialist for NCCA referrals

  • Ongoing collaboration between S2L clinical staff and referring counselors

  • Coordinated aftercare planning that reconnects clients with you post-treatment This ensures that your role in their journey is not replaced, but strengthened.

What Happens on the First Call

One of the most critical moments in the referral process is the initial phone call. This interaction sets the tone for trust, clarity, and clinical direction; especially for individuals who may be in crisis or ambivalent about treatment.

When someone contacts S2L Recovery, they are received promptly, professionally, and with genuine care.

Our intake team conducts a thorough, clinically informed assessment that includes:

  • Careful listening to understand current circumstances, substance use patterns, & presenting concerns

  • Evaluation of medical and psychiatric needs to determine if a higher level of care is required

  • Assessment of readiness, resistance, and support systems

We provide clear, ethical guidance:

  • Based on this assessment, If S2L is not the appropriate level of care, we assist in directing individuals to qualified in-network or specialized providers

  • If appropriate, we walk them through our program structure, including clinical services, medical support, biblical curriculum, and community living

We ensure full transparency:

  • Reviewing insurance benefits and financial options, including self-pay

  • Explaining next steps, from application through admission, with the ability to accommodate immediate placement when needed

We pray and encourage

● Spiritual care and clinical excellence are not competing values, but complementary ones.

Our goal is to care well for every individual you refer, while reinforcing the trust you have already established in the counseling relationship.

Engaging Together in the Mission

At the 2026 NCCA Conference, S2L Recovery will participate as a premium exhibitor and lead an 80-minute speaking session titled Set Free By Truth. This session will explore a biblical view of addiction, examine competing worldviews, and clarify the Church’s role and responsibility in responding to addiction.
