DR. DOUG STRINGER

Dr. Doug Stringer is founder and President of Somebody Cares America/
International (SCA/SCI). Somebody Cares has received recognition for the organization’s work nationally and globally. His years of ministry have taken him to numerous communities and nations; from urban to foreign missions; from garbage dumps to the palaces and halls of government leaders. 

 

As an American of Asian descent, Doug is considered a bridge-builder of reconciliation amongst various ethnic and religious groups. Doug is a sought-after international speaker. Annually, he addresses thousands throughout the U.S. and abroad on topics such as persevering leadership, reconciliation, community transformation, revival, and more. 

 

He has received honorary and earned degrees from various colleges, including a Ph.D. in Leadership and Human Development and a Doctorate of Humane Letters from Logos Graduate School; a D.Min. from New Covenant International University; and a Pastoral Certificate in Practical Ministry from Regent University.

 

Over the years, Somebody Cares, under Doug’s leadership, has become a model for connecting needs with resources during various crises as well as numerous natural disasters and has been recognized by Texas Governor Rick Perry (Hurricane Ike, 2009). In 2021, Somebody Cares received the Excellence in Disaster Volunteerism Award from Gov. Greg Abbott’s office and the State of Texas OneStar Foundation.  Doug and the work of Somebody Cares were named by Charisma magazine as one of the Top 12 Newsmakers of 2008. In 2013, out of thousands nominated by the John C. Maxwell Leadership Awards, Doug was recognized in the top 100. 

 

Doug has served on the One Star Foundation by appointment by Governor of Texas and serves on the International Advisory Board of the Geneva Institute for Leadership and Public Policy.  He also serves on various local, national, and international boards, including the Christian Men’s Network, The Global Fatherhood Initiative, Youth Reach Houston, Core-Luv for Orphans, Seniority Services, and many others. 

 

He has helped to facilitate and moderate several regional and national prayer and worship gatherings such as UnitedCry D.C. 2016, a gathering of pastors and leaders to pray on the Lincoln Memorial on April 9th, 2016, as well as Awake California in Bakersfield later in 2016.

 

Doug has been extensively published and is often quoted by others in articles and books. He has been a guest on numerous radio and television programs as well as a guest host. Somebody Cares® has produced made-for-television programs entitled Living Life Beyond the Moment with Doug Stringer, that have aired on various networks. He currently hosts a weekly podcast titled, “A Word in Season with Doug Stringer & Friends.”
